HEALTH TIP: Health & Vision

Eat Right to Help Protect Your Vision

What you eat plays an important role in healthy vision, and may help prevent eye conditions such as macular degeneration, cataracts and glaucoma, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics says.

The academy mentions these food sources that can help promote vision health:

·         Vitamin A: Select tomatoes, papaya, carrots and fortified milk.

·         Vitamin C: Eat oranges, strawberries, peppers and broccoli.

·         Vitamin E: Choose wheat germ, oils, nuts and seeds.

·         For the nutrients zeaxanthin and lutein: Eat leafy green vegetables, mangoes, kiwi, honeydew, peas, broccoli, yellow squash, corn, red grapes and oranges.
